Koa is still improving

Koa is doing a little better today. The blood cultures show that the infection was still there as of a couple of days ago. The good news is that his spinal fluid cultures haven't shown any signs of the infection. He is still fussy so that a good sign that he is getting better.
Courtnie and I were able to hold Koa today. He did very good other than getting so relaxed that he would just forget to breath. But with a little encouragement he would start right back up.
Koa has a head ultrasound tonight to make sure that there is no head bleeds. And on Tuesday he will get his eyes checked.
Courtnie and I are going to talk to the doctors about having his intestine surgery postponed to a later date. So that he will have more time to grow strong and get over these infections.
So Koa is doing good and is going to have a big week. We pray that God will guide us and the doctors in our decisions and keep Koa strong.
Thank you all for your prayers and support.
Thank God for watching over Koa and guiding the Doctors in his care.
We love you all,
Koa, Courtnie and Jeremiah Bachert

I am glad to hear Koa is getting stronger. I am glad to hear you and Courtnie are going to talk to the doctors about postpoing the surgery until he is stronger and better able to tolerate it. He should be stronger to handle that surgery. He has managed to bounce back from this one. It is a good idea to give him time to get over this. Take care and God will watch over you each and every step. Love and kisses to all-give a big hug to each other and to Koa. Aunt Lori and all.

After reading the other blogsites from friends and family I too feel compelled to tell you how concerned I am that the Dr.s want to rush things along.Koa has handled the infections that have come along so far with surgery there is always another chance for infection please use all your strength to really think through decisions that have to be made as I know you both have. Time is a great healer too, normally Koa would still be in the womb and growing hopefully the Dr.s will let him grow and get stronger before the next step in his healing process. All that he has been through so far is more than the average and he still manages to pull himself through hopefully they will give him the time he needs now and making sure the infection is in fact cleared up. I'm sorry to speak out but sometimes it may help to hear from others what you may already be thinking yourselves. Please forgive a greatgrandma a loving heartfelt minute to perhaps give you some food for thought too. Love you lots hugs to all. Greatgrandma & Greatgrandpa C

Jere and Courtney-

I am glad to hear you are going to talk with the doctors about Koa's sugery. I felt very out of place telling you two I didn't like the idea of surgery, but I only want whats best for Koa and for the both of you.
Just remember that everyone does support you and the decisions you've made and will make full heartedly and we all think you both have done an amazing job as parents. I don't know many people who could go through what you have been through and still be positive and just happy to be parents. You two are truely remarkable people and I am so happy that Koa was lucky enough to have a great mom and dad like you.
We are thinking of you daily and sending you our love and prayers.

Niki, Dave and Zack
