Koa had a good day

Today Koa had a good day. I was able to hold Koa today for about an hour and a half. This was only the second time I was able to hold him so it was so great again. Koa was having a rough morning his oxygen needs were up to about 70%. They said that he was up on his needs because he doesn’t like to be on his back for very long. It made me feel good that when I was holding him his oxygen needs went down and stayed down after they put him back in his bed. He seemed to be good the rest of the day. So today we talked to a doctor and they said that hopefully Koa will be off of the vent in a week or two if he continues to progress. They have upped his feedings again and I was mistaken about the number of calories he was getting he is only getting about 100 calories per kilogram per day. But this is still the number of calories that babies grow at. This morning they did another head ultrasound. It was good and showed that there is no head bleed. Koa also had a blood gas, the blood gas was good. So Koa had a good day and seems to be doing well tonight.
Thank you all for your prayers and support.
We love you all,
Koa, Courtnie and Jeremiah Bachert

So blessed to read this. Babies for sure know their mommy and daddy because everything seems gets better once they hear your voice and feel your touch...so hold that precious one as often as you get the chance too. It makes such a difference in their healing and in their growth. Our continued prayers are with you. We went through a very similar time with our baby Noah last year and we can really relate to all you are blogging about. We are praying that God brings you (mommy and daddy) tremendous peace and wisdom as you make these difficult decissions for your baby and we also pray for quick healing and growth on baby Koa to get him home and with you guys as soon as possible. God bless!

Another wonderful day, you getting to hold your son again. I'm positive that he feels your love and is calm knowing Dad's strong arms are protecting and loving him very much. There is no thrill or love greater than that of a parent for their child - you now know what that means a thousand fold.God bless you three on this journey together - Give Koa a little hug from us -Love you lots

I am so glad that you got to hold him and make him feel secure and calm. It is a wonderful feeling to know you have that ability to calm someone so small when so much is being done to him that he does not like and you are his relief. Love to all and hugs to KOA Courtnie and you. Aunt Lori and family
